Review by hotel critic
My recent New Year stay at the Inn at the Colonnade Baltimore, a Doubletree by Hilton, was a mixed bag. While the spacious room adorned with classic Biedermeier-inspired furnishings provided a cozy retreat after my long days of exploring Baltimore’s cultural gems—from the Baltimore Museum of Art to the vibrant Hampden neighborhood—the overall ambiance of the hotel left me wanting. Upon arrival, I was thrilled to find the staff exceptionally warm and helpful. Their hospitality truly stood out, making us feel right at home. The aging corridors and decor, which felt somewhat gloomy, betrayed the elegance that I once associated with this hotel. While the new restaurant concept is promising, it remains to be seen how it will elevate the overall experience. For professional travelers like me, seeking a mix of aesthetics and comfort, this location does hold value due to its proximity to Johns Hopkins University and the convenience of on-site parking.
